Why an Ambulatory Surgery Center?
Why an Ambulatory Surgery Center?
The Eye Surgery Institute offered the first ambulatory surgery center (ASC) in Central Oregon. Before we arrived, all cataract surgery was done in hospitals. We are the only surgery center exclusively doing eye surgery.
Increasingly, people prefer outpatient surgery centers because:
- No gurneys, only recliners
- No disrobing
- Private, calm atmosphere
- More flexible scheduling than a hospital
- No additional hospital costs
- Reduced surgery time
- Less risk of infection
Our surgery institute is designed for the comfort and convenience of both you and your family. We have comfortable recliners for you to relax in before surgery, not gurneys. Your family can watch the cataract surgery being done from a private room while looking through a large window into the surgery suite. A member of the cataract team will sit with your family and explain the procedure. They can also watch the progress on a TV screen, and at the end of the procedure you’ll walk out with a video tape or DVD of your surgery, if you so desire.
